Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
The Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day financial record keeping of the school. Experience with – and enjoyment of – all facets of the accounting cycle will be required. This is a great opportunity to impact a wide variety of stakeholders, and the Accountant must be personable and professional when dealing with students, parents, faculty and guests to the school.

Willingness to supervise middle school students when necessary
Able and eager to work on a team
Calm and methodical under pressure
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a staff accountant or full charge bookkeeper
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or other related field experience may be substituted.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with QuickBooks Desktop required.
Self-starter with good problem solving skills; able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required; advanced knowledge of Excel a plus.
Not-for-profit experience a plus.
Criminal Background Check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI, as required for work with children.
Job Responsibilities May Include:
Revenue and Expenses
Process tuition payments
Record tuition and other deposits in QuickBooks
Accounts Payable, including credit cards
Process journal entries and accruals.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ad-hoc reconciliations.
Maintain internal controls and documentation
Payroll and Benefit Administration
Responsible for monthly payroll
Responsible for benefit administration, payments, deductions and reconciliations.
Assist in preparing financial reports for internal and external (staff, Finance Committee and Board, bank)
Assist with preparation for audits
Assist with development of annual budget; answer questions from staff regarding budgeted spending
