OPEN POSITIONS:

Accountant

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Department: Administration

The Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day financial record keeping of the school. Experience with – and enjoyment of – all facets of the accounting cycle will be required. This is a great opportunity to impact a wide variety of stakeholders, and the Accountant must be personable and professional when dealing with students, parents, faculty and guests to the school.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a staff accountant or full charge bookkeeper

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or other related field experience may be substituted.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop required.

  • Self-starter with good problem solving skills; able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required; advanced knowledge of Excel a plus.

  • Not-for-profit experience a plus.

  • Criminal Background Check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI, as required for work with children.

Job Responsibilities May Include:

  • Revenue and Expenses

    • Process tuition payments

    • Record tuition and other deposits in QuickBooks

    • Accounts Payable, including credit cards

  • General Ledger

    • Process journal entries and accruals.

    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ad-hoc reconciliations.

    • Maintain internal controls and documentation

  • Payroll and Benefit Administration

    • Responsible for monthly payroll

    • Responsible for benefit administration, payments, deductions and reconciliations.

  • Financial Reporting

    • Assist in preparing financial reports for internal and external (staff, Finance Committee and Board, bank)

    • Assist with preparation for audits

    • Assist with development of annual budget; answer questions from staff regarding budgeted spending
