PLATEAU TUITION MODEL
Tuition at an excellent independent school is an investment and predicting costs is important for all our families. Incoming families benefit from our unique Plateau Tuition Model --- the school's tuition will not change for your student during your three years at Billings. Therefore, if your student enters Billings in the fall of 2020, the maximum tuition would be $34,230 for the next three years. For our families receiving financial aid, although you must reapply annually, unless your family’s circumstance change, you can expect a comparable financial aid award each year as well.
As part of our commitment to a diverse student body, we are determined to make our education accessible to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds. We offer a comprehensive financial aid program, supported by the school's operating budget and targeted annual fundraising.
Among our families are those who can afford to pay full tuition and whose generosity to our fundraising campaigns provides a vital support of our operating expenses. There are also families who manage to pay tuition at the highest level only by stretching financially, those who are able to afford only minimal tuition, and those across the spectrum in between.
We encourage families to request information if they have concerns about their ability to afford tuition at the top of the range. While every family is expected to contribute to the cost of tuition and fees and to support the community to the extent individual circumstances permit, the school does not expect each family to be able to pay full tuition.
To help us objectively assess what a family is able to contribute to educational expenses, Billings uses School and Student Services (Solutions by SSS) as a trusted third party. We use the SSS figures as the baseline for our tuition determinations each year, taking into consideration our school's policies, the resources available, and each family’s individual circumstances.
SSS has informational webinars on financial assistance for attending private schools and on completing the application. Find more information on the SSS website.
The deadline to submit financial information to SSS is February 7, 2019 for returning students and February 22, 2019 for students new to Billings. While we will accept financial aid applications after the deadline, families should be advised that financial aid may not be available.
To begin your financial aid process, please submit an online Parent Financial Statement (PFS) to SSS. Our school code for reporting data is 4135. To reach the SSS Service Center for Parents call 800-344-8328 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We also require a separate Billings Financial Aid Questionnaire.
Please read the Billings Financial Aid Checklist for the documents we require.
Tuition determination notifications will be sent in March at the same time as admission decision letters. The two processes are separate. All financial information you provide will be held in strict confidence.
