LANGUAGE ARTS 8
LINDA COOPER

OVERVIEW

la.jpg

The eighth grade year in Language Arts focuses on understanding literature through close reading and analysis, writing about literature and creative writing. This includes a deeper understanding of argumentative writing, and we will respond, in writing and orally, to the readings. We will concentrate on World literature—novels, poetry, plays and stories, primarily—with the theme of "Global Perspectives." Vocabulary lessons will involve explorations of the vocabulary found in our poems, novels and stories. Grammar lessons will be given individually and in the context of written expression, along with the option of an online program.
